Film The Imitation Game može se pohvaliti s ukupno osam nominacija, dok su American SniperClinta Eastwooda i Boyhood redatelja Richarda Linklatera primili svaki po šest nominacija. U kategoriji najboljeg filma ove se godine natječu American Sniper, Birdman, Boyhood, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Imitation Game, The Theory of Everything i Selma.
U kategoriji najboljeg glavnog glumca nominirani su Steve Carell, Bradley Cooper, Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Keaton i Eddie Redmayne, a u kategoriji najbolje glavne glumice natječu se Marion Cotillard, Felicity Jones, Julianne Moore, Rosamund Pike i Reese Witherspoon.
Ovogodišnja 87. po redu dodjela nagrada Oscara održat će se 22. 02. 2015, a vodit će je glumac Neil Patrick Harris.
