Pobjednica večeri – Beyonce!
U nedjelju, 28. kolovoza u new yorškom Madison Square Gardenu održala se dodjela MTV Video Music nagrada.
Pobjednica večeri je Beyonce koja je od 11 nominacija odnijela kući osam, uključujući one za „Video godine“, „Najbolji video u ženskoj kategoriji“ i „Najbolji pop video“.

Beyonce je dominirala dodjelom, a njen nastup bio je najbolji te večeri. Što se tiče „Najboljeg videa u muškoj kategoriji“, kipić MoonMana primio je Calvin Harris za svoj spot za pjesmu “This Is What You Came For” koju je snimio u suradnji s Rihannom, a čiji je tekst napisala Taylor Swift koja je nedostajala ove godine. Clavin nažalost nije mogao biti osobno na dodjeli jer ima nastup u Engleskoj, ali se zahvalio video porukom. Cure iz Fifth Harmony osvojile su prvu nagradu večeri za „Najbolju ljetnu pjesmu“ – “All In My Head”, a njihova druga nagrada stigla je u kategoriji za „Najbolju suradnju“ s Ty Dolla $ign za “Work From Home”. Grupa DNCE na čelu s Joeom Jonasom definitivno mogu reći da imaju najbolje fanove jer su upravo oni putem online glasanja osvojili najaviše glasova i tako osvojili titlu „Najboljeg novog izvođača“.
Iako je izgledalo kao da je Beyonce obilježila večer, dodjela je zapravo bila posvećena Rihanni koja je osvojila prestižnu „Michael Jackson Video Vanguard“ nagradu koju joj je uručio Drake koji je pred cijelim svijetom priznao da je zaljubljen u nju od svoje 22. godine.
